Headdresses and dreamcatchers are a part of Native culture so your belief "it's culture" is correct... it's just not YOUR culture to partake in. And the fact non-Natives were told to do this in the past doesn't make it right then or today. You were lied to. Deal with it.
Wasn’t lied to. My mom was basically raised by her best friend’s parents who were full on Native American. That’s how she got into the culture in the first place. Just because I’m white doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy a culture if I truly know about it. I honestly don’t see what’s wrong with enjoying someone else’s culture. Isn’t that part of experiencing things? Honestly, my dreamcatcher really comforts me because I believe they work, I see nothing wrong with that.
It’s not like I flaunt it around claiming to be Native American when I’m obviously not. I was just raised to be tolerant of every culture and be open to experiencing new things.
